When asphalt roads are removed by the action of 'planing', the material that is taken away can be re-crushed, rescreened and repurposed. Not only does this benefit for the new material being made, but being able to backload a truck with this waste product helps with truck utilisation. This circular economy model is changing the construction industry, and is making moves towards carbon reduction.
The inclusion of RAP in our products means that we are turning waste into valuable material, saving on virgin resources and bitumen which is created from crude oil.
After processing and stringent testing, RAP can be added into new asphalt mixes anywhere between 10-50%, depending on site application and plant capabilities. This stringent testing ensures that the recycled material is just as durable and useable as virgin material. This means RAP inclusive material can be used on any kind of application, withstanding site stressors comparably to virgin asphalt.
