We aim to ensure that our actions and decisions are sustainable, balancing the long-term economic, social and environmental impacts of our activities for the benefit of all our stakeholders.
In 2020 we undertook a materiality assessment which identified the key sustainability issues that could be most impactful and that were of most importance to our stakeholders.
Our focus is on making a material difference to our colleagues, customers and communities through our consideration of the most material pillars of Planet, People and Places, underpinned by our fundamental operating Principles.
Making a positive material difference to the Planet - we aim to reduce energy and carbon, to reduce waste and preserve primary resources, including water, and to have a positive impact on nature and biodiversity.
Making a positive material difference to People - we aim to keep our colleagues safe and well. We need to develop our people and build a strong, diverse and inclusive workforce. We want to be a good neighbour to our neighbouring communities and demonstrate that we are responsible, compliant, ethical.
Making a positive material difference to Places - and we want to show how we look at the whole life impacts of our products; how we collaborate and research and develop and innovate in order to help our customers create sustainable projects and places.
These 3 focus areas are underpinned by our fundamental operating Principles:
Through our targets and actions we can demonstrate a contribution towards a number of the UN Sustainable Development Goals
