Aviation Asphalt

We understand the unique demands of airfield and airport taxiway surfaces. Our specialist range of aviation asphalt products have been engineered to deliver exceptional safety, strength and durability.

Airfields face some of the most challenging conditions for asphalt surfaces. The combination of high speeds, heavy aircraft loads, intense friction and the repeated stresses of take-offs and landings requires materials specifically designed to withstand the forces, without compromising safety or performance.

Our aviation asphalt solutions are developed to meet the rigorous demands and offer enhanced fracture resistance, load bearing capability and long-term performance. Our technical experts work closely with you to deliver bespoke high-performance products, supported by our UKAS-accredited mobile testing laboratory.

Our range includes bespoke Marshall asphalt materials and specification 049 Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMAs), each formulated to meet the unique challenges of airport environments.

FAQs

Yes, most of our airfield mixes can be designed depending on the specification requirements to resist jet fuel & de-icing fluids to varying degrees. This is achieved using specialist mixes, binders and additives which prevent softening, stripping and degradation typically caused through chemical exposure.

Our aviation asphalt is specifically engineered to withstand the unique stresses of aircraft operations, including high stressors from tyres, heavy static loads, and intense shear forces during take-off and landing. It often includes specialist additives to provide enhanced durability, making it significantly more robust than regular material mixes.

Designing material for airfields needs evaluations of aircraft types, traffic frequency, climate conditions and safety requirements. Load baring capacity, surface friction, resistance to rutting and durability is also a key consideration. For this reason, we have both specialist surfacing and technical teams for airfields meaning your airfield is in safe hands.
