The right choice depends on the application. General Purpose cement is suitable for most everyday concrete, mortar, and render uses. Specialist products such as Sulfate Resisting, White Portland Cement, Rapid Set Post Mix Concrete, or Fast Set are designed for specific needs such as durability in aggressive ground conditions, aesthetic finishes, or speed of setting. If in doubt, always check the product guidance or speak with your supplier or technical support team before starting.

Yes. Many modern cements are produced with lower embodied carbon by incorporating materials such as fly ash, limestone, or GGBS (Ground Granulated Blastfurnace Slag). These blends reduce CO₂ emissions without compromising performance, making them a more sustainable choice for many applications. Check out our CEMII cement options. 

Cement should be kept in a dry, weatherproof area, off the ground and protected from moisture at all times. Bags should be stacked safely and used in the order they are delivered (first in, first out) to avoid waste. When handling, always follow manual handling guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and eye protection.

Cement typically has a shelf-life of around three months from the date of manufacture when stored correctly. This is because cement reacts with moisture in the air; over time, this reaction reduces its ability to perform as intended. Using cement beyond its shelf-life can result in reduced strength, poor workability, and compromised durability, however, this changes per product and we'd recommend speaking to your Breedon representative for specific guidance when placing your order.
