Product Overview & Why Use

Asphalt concrete (AC) can be used in all layers of a pavement. The product is a blend of different coarse aggregate sizes, fine aggregate, filler and binder. When combined the end product is generally a dense, continuously graded mixture that derives strength from the aggregate interlock.

Applications

Applications include:

  • New & existing road construction
  • Heavy duty road pavements for ports, industrial roads and yards
  • Car parks, residential areas and driveways
  • Specific open graded Asphalt concrete products can be used as part of a Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SuDS).

Asphalt concrete is predominantly used in Base and Binder layers but can be also be used as a Surface layer.
