Using lower density aggregates, Breedon Gravicrete Lightweight has a reduced overall density compared to standard concrete mixes, typically weighing between 1,800kg – 2,000kg per m³. Balancing performance with practicality, it reduces the overall weight of a structure whilst providing improved thermal insulation, easier handling and improved design flexibility.
Mix can be designed to engineer specifications for strength and density.
Applications:
- Lighter concrete slabs
- Foundations
- Floors and walls where reduced load on the structure is required
Features & Benefits:
- Reduces deflection for composite metal decking with larger spans.
- Reduces the need for propping on metal decking.
- Provides improved thermal and acoustic properties.
- Simplifies construction logistics with easier handling and workability.
- Provides improved fire resistance over standard concrete mixes.
- Can support the reduction in steel and foundation size for structures
Breedon Gravicrete Lightweight concrete is designed to be placed by conventional skip, pump or direct placement methods. Full compaction will be achieved by the correct application of standard vibrating equipment. The use of a curing membrane is required where applicable and curing should begin immediately after the concrete has been placed and finished. Curing is essential and excessive drying rates must be avoided within the first 24 hours.
