Product Overview

Breedon Rapidcrete™ is a specially formulated fast-setting concrete designed to achieve high early strength, allowing quicker access to slabs, floors, and pavements without compromising on long-term durability.

Ideal for time‑sensitive projects and cold‑weather conditions, Breedon Rapidcrete™ can be tailored to meet specific time constraints where early access is essential. By minimising downtime and accelerating site progress, it helps keep programmes on schedule and enhances overall project efficiency.

Breedon Rapidcrete™ is designed to be placed by conventional skip, pump or direct placement methods. Full compaction will be achieved by the correct application of vibrating equipment. The use of a curing membrane is required, and curing should begin immediately after the concrete has been placed and finished. Early curing is essential and excessive drying rates must be avoided within the first 24 hours.

FAQs

Rapid setting concrete, such as Breedon Rapidcrete™, is designed for projects where speed and minimal downtime are essential.

Its fast-curing properties allow for earlier formwork removal, quicker application of loads, and a shorter overall project turnaround. This can significantly accelerate construction schedules and help reduce costs related to labour, equipment, and potential delays.

It is particularly valuable for emergency repairs, roadworks, and situations where follow‑on trades need prompt access to the site. Because it cures more rapidly than standard concrete, it is also ideal for cold‑weather conditions, where slower setting times can delay project timescales and impact the end result.

Breedon Rapidcrete™ can be tailored to meet the specific early strength requirements of your project.

It is typically designed to achieve 20N/mm² at 24 hours and 40N/mm² at 48 hours, subject to the surrounding environmental conditions.

Please contact the team to discuss your requirements and they'll be happy to work with you to find a solution.

Yes. Breedon Rapidcrete™ is designed using a higher cement content so the 28-day strength may actually be higher than the standard equivalent.

If you have specific strength requirements please speak to the team who'll be able to support with finding the right solution.

Rapid setting concrete has a higher cement content due to its requirement for high early strength. These types of concrete can have a higher shrink tendency than standard concrete, therefore the use of a curing membrane is essential.

Curing should begin immediately after the concrete has been placed and finished and excessive drying rates must be avoided within the first 24 hours.
