Our sustainable asphalt uses different material components and processes to reduce environmental impact and lower carbon emissions, supporting greener roads and responsible construction developments.
We're committed to providing sustainable construction solutions in all our product lines. We are focussed on prioritising sustainable solutions and innovative technologies that meet the evolving needs of the construction industry, whilst also actively supporting our environmental responsibilities and reducing our carbon footprint.
We offer a range of sustainable options, including RAP (recycled asphalt planings), warm mix asphalt materials, single layer options and biogenic bitumen. All of which reduce carbon, conserve resources, and support circular economy.
A large percentage of asphalt carbon emissions come from the material manufacture, so we are always looking of how to change this. By reducing the temperature the material is made at, we are able to reduce those carbon emissions. We also look to use recycled materials. For example by utilising RAP, we are able to reduce the amount of virgin aggregates and bitumen - reducing pressure on the worlds mineral deposits and also reducing our fossil fuel dependence.
We have the ability to use biogenic bitumen rather than standard bitumen which is derived from crude oil. We also have a selection of innovative proprietary products which have extended life compared with standard materials, or single layer asphalt solutions which cut down on site times, reducing overall carbon.

Whilst some innovations may carry a premium, many options, such as warm mix asphalt, are in fact cost neutral. Breedon OneCoat may offer an overall cost saving for a job when taking into account labour too.
Yes - when laid correctly, sustainable asphalt performs equally well as traditional asphalt. Innovations such as warm mix asphalt and inclusion of RAP in asphalt have been rigorously tested and are approved for use on major highways.
Cradle to grave carbon reduction calculations can be given for individual projects and products, but on average, warm mix can offer up to a 15% carbon reduction, and Breedon OneCoat can offer up to 30% lifetime carbon reduction.
Sustainable asphalt options can be used in all the same applications as standard asphalt mixes.
