The Breedon ActiPave™ range was developed specifically for tennis courts and other recreational sports surfaces, providing a free-draining 6mm open-graded Asphalt Concrete designed for consistent playing performance and effective drainage.
While 6mm open-graded Asphalt Concrete is widely used in play and sports areas, it is not specifically covered by BS EN 13108-1 or PD 6691. Breedon ActiPave™ was purpose-designed to address this gap and meet the specific standard requirements.
Breedon ActiPave™ should be laid on a free-draining sub-base that provides both structural support and water storage.
Common options include Type 3 open-graded aggregate, Type 1X sub-base or other permeable aggregates designed for SuDS applications. The subgrade should be properly prepared, compacted and free from contaminants to ensure long-term drainage performance.
Breedon ActiPave™ provides a durable, low-maintenance and free-draining surface that supports year-round play. Its stable, hard-wearing finish is ideal for sports such as tennis, netball and basketball, making it a cost-effective choice for schools, community sports facilities and multi-use games areas.
Unlike polymeric and artificial turf surfaces, it requires minimal upkeep while delivering reliable all-weather performance.
