FAQs

We supply nationwide to both trade and public customers.

No. It requires a cross fall or camber for surface water run-off. For a free-draining alternative with a similar colour and strength, consider Breedon Buff Chippings.

Always lay to a finished compacted depth of 50mm. Thicker layers prevent full compaction, while thinner layers reduce durability.

No. It must be laid on an MOT Type 1 sub-base to clause 803. Concrete or asphalt must be broken up and removed. The MOT Type 1 sub-base provides a stable foundation and allows drainage, preventing the gravel from softening and potholing.

Not on gradients steeper than 1 in 15. Steeper slopes risk rutting and potholes. Steps at intervals can help reduce damage on steeper areas.

An adequate gradient for footpaths is a minimum 1 in 50. For driveways or larger areas a minimum 1 in 40 (25mm per metre of width) is required.

Yes, with care. Breedon Golden Amber Gravel can handle cars and light vehicles, but sharp turning when stationary may cause scuffing. Keep speeds below 5mph. Not recommended for HGVs or farm vehicles.
