M1 MOTORWAY DUNDALK
Client: Celtic Roads Group
Location: Dundalk, Ireland
Value: €
Breedon Ireland's Dublin Depot has been contracted by Celtic Roads Group to resurface 130,000m2 of the M1 motorway under their 2022 resurfacing plan. Celtic Roads Group is an international consortium of companies who came together to bid for road construction projects under the Irish Government’s National Development Plan (NDP), 2000-2006.
The NDP allowed for a Public Private Partnership Programme (PPP) to fund the construction of several infrastructure projects, three of which were won under tender to Celtic Roads Group, namely the Dundalk Western By-pass PPP Project, Waterford By-Pass PPP Project and Portlaoise By-Pass PPP Project.
The M1 is a key artery into Dublin from North East and from the North of Ireland. The project consists of milling out the existing pavement, resurfacing and applying the road markings and studs at night time so the motorway is fully functional for daytime operation.
There are approximately 12000 tonnes of HRA Surface Course in this contract and at the time of writing this we are 50% through the works.
