We carried out runway resurfacing works on Runway 10/28, Dublin Airport's main runway.
DUBLIN AIRPORT 10/28 OVERLAY
Client: Balfour Beatty
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Value: €1.5M
The 18-month project could only be completed at night and demanded a very tight schedule, as the runway had to be handed back to Dublin Aiport each morning to enable flights to take off and land during the day, as normal.
Each night during the project we had eight hours to mobilise over 200 workers and 150 items of construction machinery to work on a 100 metre section of the 3km runway. This involved precise daily planning requirements for logistics, material needs, manpower, plant requirements and back up contingency plans.
At the end of each night the entire runway was put through a rigorous safety inspection to ensure it was ready for the first wave of early morning flight departures.
This project was undertaken safely and on-time on one of Ireland’s most critical infrastructural assets through collaborative engagement with the client and its multiple stakeholders.
