The members of our Executive Committee are responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's business operations and key group functions.


  • Rob Wood

    Chief Executive Officer

    Rob was appointed to the Board in March 2014 as Group Finance Director and took the position of Chief Executive Officer in April 2021.

    Rob has 20 years’ experience in the international building materials industry. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young and subsequently joined Hanson PLC where he held a number of senior positions including Finance Director Brick Continental Europe, Finance Director Building Products UK and Chief Financial Officer Australia and Asia Pacific. Following the acquisition of Hanson PLC by HeidelbergCement AG, Rob returned to the UK and joined Drax Group plc as Group Financial Controller. During his time at Drax he also spent a period of time as Head of Mergers & Acquisitions.  Rob has held an executive position on the Board for a number of years bringing solid and invaluable operational leadership, as both Group Finance Director and Chief Executive Officer and fully understands the challenges and opportunities for the Group.

  • James Brotherton

    Chief Financial Officer

    James joined Breedon in January 2021 and was appointed to the Board in April. James joined Breedon in January 2021. Previously he was CFO of Tyman Plc between 2010 and 2019, prior to which he was Director of Corporate Development for five years. Earlier in his career, James worked in investment banking roles at Citi and HSBC, after qualifying as a chartered accountant at Ernst & Young.  James has considerable international construction sector and corporate experience in the areas of finance, strategy, operational efficiency, systems development, mergers and acquisitions and business integration and has contributed significantly to the financial longevity and strategic success of the Group.  James is a Director of The Quoted Companies Alliance; is a Member of the Panel of Takeovers and Mergers; and Member of the Pre-Emption Group.

  • Caroline Roberts

    Group People Director

    Caroline joined Breedon Group in May 2021 and appointed as Group People Director in October 2021, with a remit to take forward our People Plan in order to support the Group’s growth over the next five years. Caroline has over 30 years in senior HR roles across a variety of industries, including senior positions with Spire Healthcare PLC, HBS Business Services, and British Airways. Prior to joining Breedon she was People Director at the telecoms start-up company Zzoomm.

  • James Atherton-Ham

    Group General Counsel

    James joined Breedon Group in January 2022 as Group General Counsel. He is responsible for, amongst other things, legal and regulatory compliance, legal affairs, insurance and risk management, corporate governance, and has a leading role in the M&A team. Prior to joining Breedon, James was General Counsel at Aggregate Industries, a subsidiary of Swiss cement group Holcim. He has also held other senior roles at Pinsent Masons LLP, National Grid plc and BG Group plc. James is a practising barrister, called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn, and is a CEDR accredited mediator.

  • Mike Pearce

    Managing Director
    Breedon GB Materials

    Mike joined Breedon in 2018 as Managing Director of the Group's southern division, with operations extending from Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria to Greenhithe in Kent. He joined the Group from Aggregate Industries, where he was most recently Managing Director of the aggregates division, prior to which he served successively as head of concrete products (including the high-profile Bradstone brand); ready-mixed concrete (including London Concrete); asphalt & contracting; and major projects; before being appointed Commercial Director of Aggregate Industries Europe. Mike is a member of the Council of the Mineral Products Association and also sits on the West Midlands Regional Council of the CBI.

  • James Haluch

    Managing Director
    Breedon Surfacing Solutions

    James joined Breedon in March 2021 as Managing Director of the Group’s GB Surfacing Solutions division. James joined the Group from Amey, where he was most recently Managing Director of Highways & Waste Collections. James has 30 years’ experience in the contracting and highway services industry, including senior positions with Mouchel and EM (Kier) Highway Services, where he established and led the strategic highways business.

  • Jude Lagan

    Managing Director
    Breedon Cement

    Jude has over 30 years’ experience in the construction materials industry. Following the acquisition of the Lagan Group in 2018 Jude joined Breedon Group as Managing Director of Breedon Cement, responsible for its activities in the UK & Ireland.

    The early part of his career was spent in southern England in the asphalt and specialist contracting division of Whitemountain, part of the Lagan Group, eventually becoming Managing Director. Jude returned to Ireland in 2000 to head up the in-house construction of Lagan Cement’s new €120 million greenfield cement plant 80 kilometres west of Dublin. Following successful commissioning in 2002, Jude was operational director of the cement business, eventually becoming Managing Director of Lagan Cement Group in 2008. He is a member of the Institute of Quarrying and Vice Chairman of the Cement Manufacturers of Ireland.

  • Pat Gilroy

    Managing Director
    Breedon Ireland

    Pat joined Breedon in September 2022 as Managing Director of Breedon Ireland.  Pat has worked across multiple sectors, including energy, waste, water, and construction for the last 20 years and brings a strong skill set and an excellent reputation for relationship building, driving high performance and team leadership. He successfully managed the Dublin Senior Gaelic Football team to All Ireland victory in 2011, as well as winning All Ireland medals as a player with St Vincents and Dublin. 

  • Andy Arnold 

    Chief Executive
    BMC Enterprises, Inc.

    Andy has over 29 years’ experience in the construction materials industry. Having previously worked for LafargeHolcim SA in Paris and was responsible for Lafarge’s worldwide performance.

    Andy received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Virginia Tech in 1989.
