Higher apprenticeships

At Breedon, our quarries, cement, asphalt, concrete, and surfacing sites are at the heart of delivering materials that build roads, homes, and communities across the UK and Ireland. As a site supervisor apprentice, you’ll help plan, organise, and oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

You’ll work alongside experienced supervisors and managers, gaining hands-on experience from day one. This could include coordinating teams, scheduling tasks, monitoring production and site performance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. You’ll also learn how to read plans, understand project specifications, and communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders – all while earning a salary and working towards a nationally recognised higher-level qualification.

As an operational manager apprentice, you’ll be involved in planning, organising, and overseeing production and operational performance to ensure projects run safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

You’ll work alongside experienced managers, gaining hands-on experience from day one. This could include monitoring site and plant performance, analysing production data, managing resources, implementing operational improvements, and supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance. You’ll also learn how to lead teams, communicate effectively across sites, and apply management techniques to real business challenges – all while earning a salary and working towards a nationally recognised Level 5 qualification.

Throughout your twenty-four month apprenticeship, you’ll develop leadership and operational management skills, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and a strong understanding of how production and performance impact the wider business. You’ll also gain confidence in planning, reporting, and guiding teams, preparing you for higher-level roles within the industry.

Estimating and quantity surveying

You’ll work alongside experienced estimators and surveyors, gaining hands-on experience from day one. This could include measuring quantities of materials, preparing cost plans, analysing project data, producing estimates for customers, and supporting financial reporting. You’ll also learn about contracts, health and safety, sustainability, and how accurate planning supports the wider business – all while earning a salary and working towards a nationally recognised higher-level qualification.
