We recently completed the pavement works on the N4 Dual Carriageway Castlebaldwin to Collooney Project.

Despite two lockdowns due to the Global Covid-19 Pandemic, this €12.5M project was completed on-program and is now open to traffic.
The 14km stretch of Dual Carriageway on the N4 between Castlebaldwin and Collooney required supplying and placing 35,000 cubic metres of Cement Bound Granular Mix Basecourse and 125,000 tons of Bituminous materials, all of which were supplied from our Sligo depot.
For the first time in Ireland, the latest available technology was employed on the project by installing Highway Data Systems (HDS) autonomous Quality Assurance System. The bespoke system gave real time information at the laying operation giving full traceability of material placement location, delivery and rolling temperature information.
In addition, the Voelkel Navigator Roller System was fitted to the rollers giving the operators real time compaction data to ensure the full pavement area receives the required number of roller passes and compaction. The significant benefits to our work practices for Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety were extensive.
