Why Breedon?

Breedon is a leading construction materials group operating in over 350 locations across Great Britain and Ireland. We produce essential materials that make a fundamental difference to the lives of people everywhere, every day.

We provide the means by which homes are built for our families, offices and factories for our workers, and amenities for our communities. We lay the roads that our cars and lorries travel on and the ballast that our railway network is built on. We help bridge roads and rivers, lakes and valleys. Our products are used to build tunnels, dams and coastal defences. They grace our gardens and our stately homes. They protect our farm animals and even fertilise our fields.

And we employ approximately 3,500 valued colleagues who work hard to make all these things happen.

Our Values

We are committed to living by our values that define who we are, what we believe and how we behave. We are Keeping it Simple; We are Making it Happen, We are Striving to Improve, and We are Showing we Care.

We don’t need to make life any more complicated than it already is. That’s why we want to make it as easy as possible to do business with us. Whether you buy from us, sell to us, partner with us, work for us or invest in us, we’ll always aim to keep it simple.

We have a ‘can do’ attitude – we will never create obstacles where they can be avoided and we will always go out of our way to find a solution to a problem, provided we never compromise our safety or the safety of our customers and colleagues. We want to be known as the construction materials supplier that goes the extra mile.

We recognise that we can always be better at what we do, personally and as a business.
There are many levers we can pull to improve our performance and we are committed to using all of them to ensure that every stakeholder gets the best out of us.

We take our business personally and try to live by the principle that nothing is too much trouble. We show we care about our customers, our suppliers, our shareholders, our communities – and each other, with safety our top priority.

Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our purpose – to make a material difference to the lives of our colleagues, customers and communities – and this is embedded as a key part of our corporate strategy. We are committed to ensuring that our actions and decisions are sustainable, balancing the long-term economic, social and environmental impacts of our activities for the benefit of all our stakeholders.

We focus on three areas: Attract, Perform and Retain to get the best out of the most talented people available from a diverse range of backgrounds, to help us build a bright and sustainable future.

Diversity & Inclusion

At Breedon, we really value diversity. Our Diversity and Inclusion agenda underpins all aspects of the organisation and we’re committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment for all of our colleagues.

We believe that diversity and inclusion are key drivers to a sustainable business as they allow us access to a broader set of talent and skills and strengthen our link with our stakeholders and the communities in which we operate.

We also ensure that our colleagues can reach their full potential, by making them feel valued and included regardless of their gender, age, race, disability, sexual orientation or social background.

Women in construction

“I enjoy every minute working for a company that believes in investing not only in the business, but in their employees as well. I don’t just have a job; I have a career with Breedon that has developed over the years in an industry where more women have a future in construction in various roles. I love working in this line of work due to the diversity of the roles I’ve had, from Distribution Co-Ordinator to Sales Manager. Every day can be different and sometimes challenging but the results give you a sense of achievement and pride.”
